RECENT NEWS & EVENTS

Today I will inform you about these major events to raise money for the Ronald McDonald Charities.

I. The World Children’s Day was realized in the first time in November 20 of 2001 raised more than $124 million for Ronald McDonald Charities

* To contribute with the World Children’s Day on November 20, the McDonalds donate $1 from the sale of some selected menus.

* Customer in the United States could also support this cause through the Give a Hand in-restaurant program.

II. To help 3.7 million families a year, McDonald’s USA chose to air a 30 seconds commercial featuring Ronald McDonald House Charities pre-kick off.




* More than 97 million people saw the commercial and learned how easy it is to support this cause.

* They chose Chris Nehls, a childhood cancer survivor, his story is one of those who were helped by Ronald McDonald House and continue to give back.


III. Also, from January 27 until February 14, customers in North and South Carolina are encouraging to “share their hearts” leading up to Valentine’s Day.


* Customers are encouraged to support by buying paper hearts for $1 when visiting participating McDonald’s.

* The hearts with the donor’s name written on it will be displayed in each restaurant.


Those were just some of the events to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Now that you just learned how easy it is to support this cause ,there are millions of children waiting your help

FUNDING

Things you can give to help the Ronald McDonald House Charities:- Gifts of cash are always accepted and will be put to use as soon as the donation is made and you can see how its used.

- Gift of life insurance or securities are other donations you can make.

- Donations, Sponsors, and Volunteer work are essential:

* Funding - Money from this nonprofit organization comes from a lot donations and people lending a helping hand.

* RMHC runs off of donations and money given to the sponsors or the corporate donors

* In-donation are a tremendous opportunity to showcase products and services to people and organizations that need them the most.

* Corporate Donors - play a vital role by giving large donations or volunteer service.

* Volunteers give the company greater exposure in the local community

* And staff can also actively support a meaningful cause.

* Financial contributions from their sponsors is another aid that RMHC relies on.


With many people participating in volunteer work they can affect local communities all across the nation.

I. Ronald McDonald House Charities helps to change the lives of children.

Children and their families need our help, everyday, every night, and we help approximately 10, 000 everyday! At over 285 houses on more than 34 Ronald McDonald care mobiles.



HOW does Ronald McDonald do all that it does?
WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU!
One way to get involved is to volunteer your time.

Here are a few ways to volunteer your time:

- Prepare and serve meals.



- Volunteer for “Spring Clean-Up Day”.



- Be creative—organize art projects for children or donate supplies.
- Volunteer for the local board or become a committee member.
- Host a car wash and wash cars for the families and staff.


- Bake cupcakes or cookies and bring them to the families.


- Help plant flowers.


- Donate items identified on the Chapter’s “Wish List”.

- Volunteer to read during a story hour.
- Collect hotel toiletries to donate to families.

Other time and efforts:
FUND RAISE!

- Support a RMHC fund raising event.
- If interested in an opportunity as such, you should contact your local Chapter for more information about opportunities.

* Collect pop/pull tabs to be recycled.
* Hold a corporate jeans day asking for a minimum donation from each person wearing jeans
* Hold a silent auction within your organization.
* Implement an Employee Payroll Deduction program.

- Make RMHC a part of your LEGACY PLAN:

- SERVE families at a Ronald McDonald Family Room.

ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility
• Children 18 and younger (some houses 21 and under)
• The children being treated and their families eligible
• Children being treated at a hospital nearby


Requirements
• Cost can be $5 to $25 a night but if the family can not pay the fee may be waived
• Length of stay depends on each case
• The house provides certain necessities

HISTORY

HOW RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARIITES DEVELOPED OVER THE YEARS...


The first Ronald McDonald House opened in 1974 in Philadelphia, PA




-In 1984, Ronald McDonald House Charities is officially established in memory of McDonald's founder Ray Kroc, a strong advocate for children.


-By 1985, the first RMH opened in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and there were Houses worldwide.




-In 1986, The Award of Excellence was created to honor child care advocates.


-In 1987, the Pop Tab Collection Recycling Program was established.


-By 1991, the 150th RMH opened in Paris, France.


-In 1992, the Ronald McDonald Family Room was established to served the families of critically ill children. It opened at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, KS.


-In 1994, RMHs opened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and in Auckland, New Zealand, bringing the total number of Houses to 164.


-In 1997, the Matching Grant Program was created for local U.S. chapters to respond to needs in their own communities.

-The first Ronald McDonald Care Mobile was launched in 2000 in Orchester. MA.
